If you have been spending your time at the gym, on the yoga mat and getting up early to run, trying to get your body beach ready for summer, then you should definitely head down to Clifton 4th beach, known as the beach that attracts the beautiful people of Cape Town. Other than babe watching and being watched, other activities on this beach include sunbathing, beach volleyball and celebrity spotting. On calm days when the wind isn’t blowing, you will be able to spot yachts anchored close to the shore, this beach really attracts Cape Towns jetset.
Unfortunately this isn’t a beach that attracts much swimming, but if you don’t mind a bit of nip in the water, you will find plenty of opportunity for bodysurfing amongst the crashing waves.
The South Easter, known as the Cape Doctor by Capetonians for its ability to blow any smog threatening to settle onto the city, away into the sea, doesn’t feature very much on this beach. When the Cape Doctor blows Clifton 4th beach is protected from the gails by the backdrop of Table Mountain and the 12 Apostles.
It is the most southerly of a series of small coves in the western seashore of Table Bay. Access to the beach is found down a flight of steep, winding, narrow stairs, unfortunately making it near impossible for disabled visitors to access.
After a day of working on your tan, stroll over to La Med, considered one of the best outdoor bar/clubs in Cape Town, a perfect spot for sundowners. Clifton Capetown is considered one of the finest suburbs and there is much Clifton beach accommodation to choose from. Many of the apartments and villas are designed around the spectacular views. Simply put, Clifton has some of the finest house rentals Cape Town has to offer.
