An exhibition for art and flower lovers will be on at the Air stream trailer park, on the roof of the Grand Daddy hotel in Long Street from the 10th to the 14th of November, the Daddy Bloom flower show. This is not your average art or flower show, but rather a combination of both.
The brief requires a large range of creatives to create floral displays out of anything but flowers, last year saw floral installations made from paper, glass, perspex, felt and paint in a series of mini ‘art gardens’. The floral displays will be open for public viewing from 12pm to 8pm and there will be a wide selection of high tea delicacies available as well as Gin and tonics to help celebrate the coming of spring. Viewers of the garden need simply pay a donation to SEED, the School’s Environmental Education and Development.
The best floral artwork proposal wins a submission to ‘One Small Seed’, an art and design publication, the Daddy Bloom winner will get R2000 as well as a luxury accommodation package for two. There will also be a people’s choice award for the viewers’ favorite. The Grand Daddy hotel has become synonymous with art, design and of course Cape Town accommodation. The trendy events that it is associated with, including the Loerie awards, as well as it’s up market but quirky interior, make it the Cape Town accomodation in which to be seen.
Unfortunately there are some factors with which it just cannot compete, while it is situated in the heart of Cape Town, making it fantastic accommodation in Cape Town for a business trip, it does not have the same location advantages of many of the beach accommodation in Cape Town, which makes for excellent Cape Town holiday accommodation for those simply in Cape Town to relax.
